Pizzicato Effect Program

After School Ensemble Tuition

Launched in 2009 ‘Pizzi’ has provided music education in the City of Hume at no cost to participants for up to 70 students each year across the school year. The program provides a safe, positive, inspiring, fun, and high-aspiring learning environment that promotes engagement with school and broader community life.

Pizzicato Effect

Ensembles

Beginners & Seniors

Ensemble based learning is the foundation of the Pizzi program. The majority of each session is spent learning repertoire in our string orchestras and discovering how each instrument and part of the music relates to one another.

Instrument Club

Violin, Viola & Cello

Instrument Club occurs throughout the term to reinforce the nuances of playing the violin, viola and cello. Tutorials are held in seperate instrument groups to focus on technique, posture and musicianship.

Collide

Performance Opportunity

Collide is the name of our end of term concert. Collide represents a chance to share what we have learnt throughout the course of the term in an informal setting for students, supporters, parents and guardians.

Pizzi Praise

Instruments Offered

Violin
Cello
Viola

Violin

Elegant, clear, high sound.

The violin is the smallest instrument in the string family. Its higher pitch lends itself to melodic playing and improvising. The violin plays in treble clef and has 4 strings — E A D G

Cello

Warm, tender, low sound.

The cello is known to be the instrument with a tone closest to the human voice. Played sitting down, it is a large instrument often used for solos, and bass line accompaniment.

Viola

Rich, smooth, middle sound.

The viola is a beautiful instrument played on the shoulder, similar to the violin. The viola reads alto clef, and has the same strings as the cello pitched one octave higher — A D G C
